Hamilton Beach 10 Cup Food Processor

One of the most well-respected kitchen appliance makers has created an excellent value priced 10 cup food processor.  Hamilton Beach has been an American company for over 109 years and enjoys a well earned reputation for high quality kitchen tools.  This 10 cup food processor is no exception and we recommend it highly.

An Excellent Value Priced Food Processor

Prices for food processors range from the very low ($40) to the very high ($300) and there are quite a few factors that created this price swing.  When you see a really low price on a food processor the first thing to check is motor size.  Too small a motor means difficulty chopping vegetables or kneading dough.  This 10 cup food processor by Hamilton Beach fits right in the middle of motor sizes: not too small and not very large.  You will need to cup up vegetables or cheeses into 1 1/2″ cubes before processing but the motor is strong enough to handle most foods.

Another factor when looking at price ranges will be attachments.  You may save a few bucks by buying a lower priced processor but find out later that the blades and other attachments that you expected aren’t there.  This unit has a nice assortment of attachments including one that we really like. We think the bowl scraping blade is outstanding and wish other food processors offered it.

bowl scraper

One of the biggest frustrations in food processing is stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl. It takes time and it’s a hassle to keep re-assembling the lid. All this stopping and starting is inefficient, especially when you need to get dinner on the table. This unit comes with a handy attachment called the bowl scraper.  This unique tool allows you to save time when chopping or pureeing – no need to stop and remove the lid to dislodge food from the side of the bowl. The built-in scraper does the work for you, and you can use it while the processor is on or off for continuous processing. It’s a great time saver and really made the mixing much more uniform in the results and far easier.

There are three other blades included, a slicing blade, a mixing blade and a chopping blade.  Both are adequate and do what they are supposed to do.  There are only three settings for the processor: low, high and pulse.  This is sufficient for most blending or chopping needs but most food processors offer 4-6 settings.  The high setting is noisy but you will be able to chop almost all vegetables and cheeses.

The bowl is a generous 10 cup heavy plastic bowl and is large enough for most of your kitchen needs.  The bowl, the blades and the feed chute are both dishwasher safe, making clean up relatively easy.

Best Home Baker

While not the largest or most powerful food processor on the market, this is still a very good kitchen appliance. The large bowl will handle most mixing jobs and we really like the scraper blade.  You can usually find this unit for under $50, making it a very good value.
